Andalucia Diary – Seasonal Travel Notes

Nerja Revisited

Today I had a bit of a skive as I met an old university friend for lunch, who´s over for a holiday renting a cottage near Granada.  So we met in Nerja, half way.  I´d not been there for ages.  It really is a lovely spot.  Pretty town, with plenty going on, perched on a rocky piece of coastline, with clear seas and sandy coves.  A Nerja resident and friend of mine had recommended a chiringuito on the beach, called Merendero Moreno and I would strongly pass on that recommendation as a good place to eat really fresh seafood.  We couldn´t have asked for a better day, and ate outside with the sand beneath our feet.

Taking the motorway home this evening, the view of Africa was clear. I pulled over near Mijas, and took this shot.  Benalmadena is in the foreground, and the mountains of Morocco looked incredibly close.
