Coffee in the hotel was unforgivably bad. I must get onto Trip Advisor and slag the hotel off about that. Also, it was the start of the Fallas season,
so our hotel was host to a neighbourhood dinner (most city blocks each have celebratory Falles dinners) where eveyone dressed up in period dress, ate, drank and then stumbled back to their rooms in the small hours talking at the top of their voices! So after less that enough sleep we went off in search of good coffee and some retail therapty – but we did find time to glance at old town too, with it´s cathedral (and amazing carved door). Valencia is famous for is Fallos festival where fireworks displays and huge pyrotechnic blasts echo across the city. Mammoth paper Mach figures and caricatures of politicians are torched and generally everyone has a good time!
