It’s that time of year again, when along the coast fireworks light up the sky and the streets are filled with the sound of music and cries of ‘Virgin del Carmen……Guapa!!’
Yes, it’s the annual celebrations for the coastal fishing communities. Their patron saint is the Virgen del Carmen, dating back to old Testament stories. Her icon is held aloft through the streets and then carried out to sea.
You can see a few more photos in my post last year. For all summer holiday makers, July 16th should be in their diary – it’s a wonderful, atmospheric night to be on the beach.
