On our way to the wineries of Rioja, we stayed in Zaragoza. 
It's was my first time in the arid lands of Aragon. The city hosted Expo 2008, a world fair that focused on the theme of water and sustainable development. 
The irony is that the Expo park is far from sustainable in a region with limited economic growth, so the area is a ghost town, but very photogenic. 
In the city centre, the heart of the community is the extrordinary cathedral, Basilica del Pilar which is stunning.
