Last weekend, escaping to the countryside, found us at the annual Pure Spanish Thoroughbred show (Caballo de Pura Raza Española) in Coín, of all places.
Curiosity took us inside the auditorium to see some of the judging of these elegant animals. With friends (one who is an accomplished horse woman) we bought tickets for the show later in the day that was a combination of family entertainment and more serious dressage.
Despite the fact that horses don't feature much in agricultural life here anymore, thoroughbred breeding remains big business, even in these tough times. It was good to see some many people, of different ages and backgrounds sharing a passion for horses.
