Andalucia Diary – Seasonal Travel Notes

Chefchaouen, Chefchoen, Chaouen, Chauen, Xauen, Morocco

Twinned with Ronda, in Malaga province, Chefchaouen (or Chauen as the Spaniards call it), is a small mountain village in northern Morocco.Chefchauoen_chefchoen_xauen_moroc_3Chefchauoen_chefchoen_xauen_moroc_4 Its just 90 minutes or so from Tangier, so makes it a feasible short break from the western Costa del Sol.  Chefchauoen_chefchoen_xauen_moroc_5 Rafa & I took the car over on the fast ferry from Tarifa and spent a couple of nights Chefchauoen_chefchoen_xauen_morocco there. It is not unlike a small Andalucian village, like Frigiliana in the 50s.The village has been painting the houses of the old Medina blue since the 30s making for an interesting ambience. .
