When I was hiking in the Ronda Mountains this week I stayed the night at the Molino del Santo in Benaojan, near Ronda.
So I wanted to say a few words about this really charming country hotel as I really think it is worth a visit. It’s a converted mill and has some interesting features and is full of character, and is in an idyllic setting, nestling in a valley beside a river.
Owners Andy and Pauline make you feel very welcome and their team is excellent. My room had a private terrace overlooking the river…and a very comfortable bed, thoughtful touches such as tea and coffee making facilities wish is rare in a hotel in Spain.
The period salon with its original millwheel is a great place to put your feet up and enjoy some of the hotel’s walking and nature books; whilst front desk has details of a number of self-guided and guided walks available.
The restaurant has a good reputation and in my experience it deserves it.
My friends & I ate really well and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the local Ronda wines. Breakfast on the sun dappled terrace is a really pleasure – good selection of breads, pastries, Spanish specialities, as well as cooked options.
Highly recommended.
