Cruise Control – Malaga’s new highways

This blog highlights much of the amazing natural environment here in Andalucía. Sadly much has come under threat from development, mainly residential.

A46 Autopista

However, I couldn’t help but be excited when today the new Malaga by-pass and the new A46 were opened! I love driving and therefore….love my car and therefore…love roads. Luckily here we are in a really well connected part of the Mediterranean with a superb infrastructure.

The new Malaga bypass is a huge 8 lane highwayand manages to cut through the mountainous terrain thanks to 26 huge viaducts and a few tunnels.

The new motorway getting past the city to go east or north is going to be a lot easier and with impressive new A46, getting up to Granada is at least 20 – 30 minutes quicker – looking forward to using this route this winter getting to the slopes!

Below is a picture from the pueblos de malaga com website showing one of the viaducts.
