Sunday saw Vejer take part in Cadiz province’s tapas festival, with over 26 bars each offering a signature tapas with a drink for just 1.50 euro!

Even the local Italian pizza restaurant was participating. At ‘Pizzeria la Posta’  we enjoyed some lovely red wine, complimentary sweet potato tapas as well as their signature mini plate, ‘hojaldre triguero con salsa gorgonzola’ – fresh asparagus spears wrapped in puff pastry, baked in the wood oven and served with the Italian blue cheese sauce, yum!

On the edge of old town is a smart bar, popular with the international community, called Los Quatro Gatos’ we tasted ‘Pincho de cebolla caramelizada con queso, de cabra y miel’ – tasty tapas of baked goat’s cheese with honey and really flavourful and sweet caramelised onion relish.

Even really traditional looking places like the bar La Posada were serving wonderful tapas. There we indulged in ‘pincho de langostinos con bacon’ – grilled prawns wrapped in bacon with an onion relish.
