When I’m ‘home’ in Ronda it’s hard for me to stay away from one of the local bodegas! Today a friend and I met Alex and his colleagues Juanma, Pablo, Miguel, Jose & David, young winemakers who are creating new wines – Samsara Wines Ronda.
These entrepreneurs are working at the Bodega Cuesta la Viña (with stunning views out across the Zahara lake)…
…where they create their distinctive, young yet elegant wine, ‘Samsara’ and their new ‘Manos Negras’ which is delicious. Sadly sold out – only 1,500 bottles so we have to wait ’till April 2016 for the next release. (Called black hands as their hands are stained black after the harvest).
It’s a busy time here in Ronda – most bodegas have just completed their harvest (vendimia)…it’s a wonderful time to visit wineries and see the wine making process.
We will be checking out the Samsara when we are in Ronda in a few months. Sadly, we will be there in mid March, right before the release of the Manos Negras.
I met and tasted this wine with Alex and Pablo en 2014. It was Samsara for sure! Saludos and hugs to a couple of impressive winemakers!
