Ronda’s historic bullring – seen from above

Here is a view of Ronda’s historic bull ring, and the Serranía de Ronda mountain ranges.
I captured this stunning perspective from the terrace of the new Hotel Catalonia Ronda, which is in the former Unicaja bank directly opposite the bull ring.
This is such a fabulous summer terrace! Open to the public. Hotel guests have access to the private pool terrace above. During the annual fair and the ‘Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda’ horse and carriage shows I imagine the terrace will be closed for guests and ticket holders.
The Ronda bullfight is said to be one of the oldest in Spain, built in the 18th century. It is privately owned and now rarely used; mainly during the town’s Feria Goyesca annual fair when there are bullfights commemorating the torero Pedro Romero.

I have to admit to not being a fan of Catalonia hotels; I think their generic decor is low-end and does nothing to capture the essence of their hotels’ locations or history. Yet with views like these I’m sure this hotel will be very successful.
