The first two weeks of August 2014 is the 20th International Festival ‘Art Encounters’ (‘encuentros de arte’) in the Malaga mountain village of Genalguacil.
During the festival, workshops and the contemporary art exhibition space will be open, featuring local and national artists. Yet even without seeing the temporary exhibitions, there are sculptures and installations throughout the village to enjoy.
Take time to explore the alleyways and streets of this beautiful Genal Valley village to discover the diverse pieces that have been added over the years. Today I took a few snaps of the creativity you can discover in the village.
Artist exhibiting this year, include Eugenio Merino, Juan Francisco Casas, José Luis Serzo, Daniel Silvo, Tamara Feijoo, Juan Zamora, Antonio Montalvo, Antonio Fernández Alvira, Félix Fernández, Nekane Manrique as well as local artists María Bueno, Alba Moreno and Eva Grau. There’s an article in SUR in English about the festival.
Getting there can be tricky, as whichever way your reach the village, whether from Ronda, Estepona or Gaucin, the roads are narrow and winding – so allow plenty of time and enjoy thejourney.
By the way, if you are looking a place to eat, my favourite is the Taberna Andaluza – as anyone in the village and they will direct you – it’s owned by the Mayor.
Thank you for coming! , we will be more than welcome to have such nice people around the village many other times! great articles!
Great to meet you and enjoy the hospitality of the Taberna Andaluz!
Love this place. Be there time ago
Wish to go again sometimes.
