Andalucia Diary – Seasonal Travel Notes

Pescaito Fried Fish Malaga

Pescaito in Malaga – the taste of summer

Monday I was in Malaga, enjoying a classic lunch of Malaga fried fish and sardines on skewers. If you visit Malaga, then it’s really a dish that you must try.

I posted a picture on Hidden Andalucia’s instagram, explaining more:

The classic Malagueño dish is ‘pescaíto’, small fried fish.
This is one of the most popular dishes to order when on the Andalusian coast, especially in Malaga. Typically the dish includes Salmonetes (red snapper), pescadillas (whiting), adobe (marinated white fish), calamares (squid) and of course boquerones (white anchovies).
Also try an ‘espeto’ of sardines – cooked on a skewer made from local reeds, and cooked on an open wood-burning fire. Delicious!
