Gran Hotel Miramar Malaga

Malaga is Spain’s third most visited city and is consolidating it’s position as a city of culture and cuisine – not just the airport gateway to the Costa.

As an merging city break destination, there’s growing demand for decent accommodation and now, the city has a 5 star Grand Hotel. It’s been open a year.

You can read my full review of the Gran Hotel Miramar Malaga on The Luxury Editor here.

The grand interior patio atrium of the @ghmiramarmalaga , and it’s classic exterior. Built inthe 1920s and designed by Fernando Guerrero Strachan, the ‘Palacio Miramar’ has an architectural heritage that celebrates both Moorish revival and classical styles. This is Malaga’s only Gran Hotel, a @leadinghotelsoftheworld property, with facilities, space and enough rooms to make it popular with business clients. Opened in 1926 as the ‘Hotel Príncipe de Asturias’ (inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII) this Miramar Palace has witnessed the colourful history of the regional capital. During the civil war the hotel was closed and the royal crown over the entrance tower was destroyed. It was operated as a field hospital, before returning to being a hotel during the 40s, 50s & 60s. It then became the city’s law courts before being abandoned and falling into disrepair. Hotel Santos, a Spanish family-run hospitality group, has since brought the hotel back to life, replacing that destroyed royal crown, and adding a sparkling new lease of life to the building. . . . #malaga #igersmalaga #luxurynavigator#granhotelmiramar #granhotelmiramarmalaga #luxurytravel #luxuryhotels

Seeking cover from the rain showers on Friday, whilst indulging in a few glasses of bubbles on my birthday, at the Media Luna Chill Out roof terrace of the @ghmiramarmalaga (Gran Hotel Miramar Malaga). The hotel has a new GM, and the friendly team appear motivated – service is excellent. The property, a popular conference and business hotel, is looking much better a year or so after it first opened. The little details that were missing in the early months are now in place. Fresh flowers are everywhere for example. The roof terrace is a good place to escape the business delegates that often fill the beautiful internal patio atrium below. From up here you have a pigeon’s-eye view of the pool terrace below and the large outdoor space well suited to corporate events and weddings. Up here on the roof terrace (open from noon to the public) it feels more exclusive and intimate. ⬅️ Swipe left to see a few more pics. When it’s dry the whole space opens up – take a look on the web site. We were lucky enough to have an upgrade to a sea view room @ghmiramarmalaga on our second night. Standard ‘premier rooms’(you can see pictures on my @andrewaforbes gallery) all face to the north, east or west. Deluxe Sea rooms and suites all face south over the pool and Mediterranean beyond – and some have their own terraces including hot tubs. This suite has a classical decor with ivory coloured mouldings and extravagant detailing and fabrics. This @leadinghotelsoftheworld property has three styles of room created by Aneta Mijatovic, Rosa Escribano and José Segui. Each floor has its own theme for rooms – Arabic/Al Andalus style; Mediterranean; or Classical. . . . #luxurynavigator #luxurytravel #luxuryhotels #travel #luxury #hotels #resorts #spas #beautifulhotels #igtravel #travelling #instatravel #instagood #globewanderer #tastemaker #hotelinspector #Wanderlust #travelblog #letsgosomewhere #postitfortheaesthetic #bestplacestogo #hotforhotels

I’m back in Andalucía! And already being pampered with bubbles and treats! Our home-from-home for the next few days is Malaga city’s sparkling @ghmiramarmalaga Looking forward to getting to know the property better. Rooms come with different designs depending upon the floor – from classic, Mediterranean, to this Arabic Al Andalus inspired look. I chose this style as it feels a little more exotic! . . . #malaga #granhotelmiramar #granhotelmiramarmalaga #luxurynavigator #luxurytravel #luxuryhotels #boutiquehotels #travel #luxury #hotels #resorts #spas #beautifulhotels #igtravel #travelling #instatravel #instagood #globewanderer #tastemaker #hotelinspector #Wanderlust #travelblog #letsgosomewhere #postitfortheaesthetic #bestplacestogo #hotforhotels
