This morning I was enjoying breakfast in Fuengirola’s new ‘Gourmet Market’; La Galeria GastroMercado.
These modern food halls are springing up across Andalucia, providing contemporary eating options for visitors and residents based upon Andalusian cuisine, especially the concept of tapas & ‘raciones’.
Although undoubtedly contrived and commercial these gastro markets are certainly more sophisticated than the dated food courts from the 90s & 00s that many of us from the UK and USA will be familiar with; and these faux markets make for a fun and relaxed environment to enjoy drinks and snacks.
As I flicked through today’s Sur In English newspaper I was thinking what a good idea it would be to do a piece here on the different gastro markets in Marbella (Ambrosia); Malaga (Mercado Merced) and Fuengirola (La Galeria). Yet then I came upon this article in the paper. So I share it here. You can read the paper online too.
It covers the main food courts and also details of future projects in Malaga province.
¡Buen provecho!
