This week I came across a web site dedicated to the World Sherry Day. The site says, ‘World Sherry Day is brought to you by a group of international Sherry enthusiasts, connected together by a shared passion for Sherry Wines. Our vision is to celebrate Sherry wines throughout the world on the weekend of Saturday 25th and Sunday May 26th, together with Bars, Restaurants, Bodegas and private events around the world. Tastings, food pairings, Sherry cocktail parties, Sherry inspired menus and more, join the celebrations!’
For those in Andalucia, there is plenty of opportunities to enjoy this increasingly fashionable drink, from a dry Fino, a complex Amontillado or a sweeter Pedro Ximénez. Now is the time to explore Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlúcar de Barrameda – with lots of events scheduled over the coming days and months.
For a good introduction to sherry try this site and also Sherry.org
One of my very first blog entries on this site was actually about the Sherry region of Spain – you can see it here.
2015 – Update. There have been some changes and the site is now International Sherry Week – http://www.isherryweek.com/
Hi
It is a pitty but it looks as if World Sherry Day is not happening any more. Their Twitter account seems to be still active https://twitter.com/worldsherryday
I have checked and all we can find is International Sherry Week http://www.isherryweek.com/ which seems quite similar is scope.
Anyone know anything about this?
There were some changes – the site is now http://www.isherryweek.com – and a new twitter will launch soon. Salud!
