Andalucia Diary – Seasonal Travel Notes

Noche Buena – Ronda

We’ve driven home for Christmas. The sun is beaming down, so the town lacks its normal festive wintery chill.
Instead it like spring – as normal everyone is out enjoying tapas but instead the street and terrace tables are full.
Rafa & I and the family enjoyed some great tapas; including a visit to my favourite Casa Ortega, with freshly carved cured ham; superb cured cheese; meatballs; fresh wild asparagus; and suckling pig!
That’s just snacks before the big family dinner tonight!!

Firstly thanks for writing such a great blog, I have been reading through it for the last couple of days and it really is a lovely inspiring guide to Andalucia.
I wondered if I could ask you directly for some advice?
My partner and I just got engaged, and having driven through some of Andalucia, mostly from Seville to Ronda last June and we just fell in love with the place and so are planning to marry there next year.
At the moment I have Ronda in mind, however I wondered, in your experience, if you had any recommendations on towns in Andalucia where we could find the most stunning mountain views for the wedding of our dreams. We will of course be taking the opportunity to travel around in the name of ‘research’ however I would be incredibly grateful for some insider knowledge of where to begin.
    Many thanks for your time

Happy New Year! Thanks for making contact. I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog. Andalucía is certainly a magical place to get married. I was married in Ronda in the Palacio de Mondragon.
I would like to recommend you visit the websites of a dear friend of mine, Laura Charles who is a genuine wedding expect. Her wedding site is:

Also, Laura isn’t just about logistics, she is the person that adds the magic to the day, from venue selection, theme, decoration. Check out her amazing blog for ideas and inspiration. There are lots of ideas on the blog about venues in Andalucía, as well as themes.

Also, of course, if you were interested in getting a proposal from Laura, I know she would be happy to work with you.
All the best and keep in touch!
